May Happenings

Now that May is here, temperatures are warming up and it’s finally starting to feel like spring. The school year is winding down as well, so families can start planning their summer vacations if they haven’t done so already. Of course, you don’t want to miss the Memorial Day weekend events. Before then, you’ll find plenty of activities in Cumberland and the Barron County area. Learn more about the May happenings by reading below.

Spring Body 360

If you’re looking for ways to get back in shape for the summer, the Cumberland Community Education is offering Spring Body 360. The ongoing yoga classes meet every Wednesday and Friday at 5:15 AM through June 8th at the Cumberland High School gym. The first class you attend is free with each additional class at $7.00 each. You can also buy ten passes for $60.00.  For more information, go to Cumberland Community Education’s Facebook page. So bring your yoga mats and dumbbells and get ready for a total body workout.  

Laughs For Literacy

On May 11, the Rice Lake Kiwanis Club will present Laughs for Literacy with Charlie Berens. Mr. Berens is a talented comedian and Wisconsin native who hosts the “Manitowoc Minute” online video series. The fundraiser promotes literacy and hopes to raise money for the local Imagination Library program and the Kiwanis Club’s annual Headstart Program Book Giveaway. Both programs mail books to children to encourage them to read and learn. The event will be held at the Rice Lake High School auditorium at 7:30 PM. Consider supporting this worthy cause and enjoying a night of comedy in the process.  

Men’s Health Night

Cumberland Healthcare is once again hosting a special dinner event with Men’s Health Night. Learn more about important issues for men, including dry needling, heart health and colon health. The dinner will be held at Das Lach Has on May 15 with Mark Walters from Outdoorsmen Journal will be the special guest speaker. Tickets are $10.00 in advance and $15.00 at the gate. Music in the Park

If you want family-friendly entertainment, come to Music at the Park at Anderson Park in Barron. The free summer music series starts May 15 at &:30 PM with R Country Offspring the main musical group. So bring your lawn chairs or picnic blankets for a fun evening.    

Ronnie Milsap Concert

Grammy-winning country music star Ronnie Milsap will perform May 19 at the St. Croix Casino in Turtle Lake. Doors open at 7:00 with the concert starting at 8:00 PM. You can buy general admission tickets for $35.00 or VIP tickets for $50.00. Come enjoy a night of classic country music at the St. Croix Casino.
